General Physical Preparedness (GPP), now commercially tagged as functional training or functional fitness, is the essential entry/re-entry point for any sport to provide athletes with a solid foundation of fitness on which to build his/her sport specific training. As with any elite level athletic program, jumping right in without proper prep and conditioning can result in injury or bad motor skills.
