How do I get started with CK MMA?

Please read through it thoroughly and follow the instructions. Come in five minutes early for class, have a chat with our coaches and you’re good to go!
What are the classes at CK MMA Chennai like?
Classes at CK MMA Chennai are designed to maximize your skills and fitness. You will learn authentic martial arts and you will get into the best shape of your life. Our classes are high Intensity, full of adrenaline pumping workouts and skill enhancing drills. Though our trainers are instructed to keep pushing your limits, you will never be forced to do anything that you do not want to do. For example, if you do not want to spar, you will never be forced to do so. Of course, if you love to spar, you can do it under the strict supervision of our instructors.
What equipment do I need?
Every course at CK MMA Chennai has different requirements in terms of equipment depending on the program you choose. Requirements range from no equipment to a full fighters kit. Our Coaches will be more than happy to help you with your starter kit.
Do I need experience to start?
From the complete beginner to the most advanced professional fighter, CK MMA Chennai has different programs for every level of experience. All Coaches from the CK Team are experts at teaching beginners.
Do I really need to be fit to join?
Combat Kinetics caters to anyone in Chennai with a basic level of fitness and all our workouts are scaled. This means, as long as you are functional, have your basic motor (movement) abilities intact and you have the mental strength to keep pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, you will be able to start classes immediately.
That being said, CK is a high intensity program and not everybody will be able to jump right in… The best way to find out is to book one of our free trials and do the orientation class. If even the orientation is too taxing for you, or if you are completely unfit, our coach might suggest taking up a month or two of One-on-One sessions of PT before joining the group classes.
What if I have an old injury or complication?
If you have injuries or complications please fix an appointment with our physiotherapist and get screened before joining class. If you do not meet our basic requirements for the group classes, you have the option of signing up for our customized personal training programs or coming back after you are all healed up.
I‘m too unfit to join the group classes but I don’t want to wait!!
Make no mistake… We are as eager as you are to get you into the grind, but even though we have taken great pains to structure our classes in such a way as to accommodate various fitness levels, you need to have a basic level of fitness to start our group classes. This is solely in the interest of keeping you injury free.
If you are still keen on being a part of the CK family right away, we suggest taking up one of our Personal Training packages. If the PT is outside your budget or all slots are full, please enquire about our free 1 month preparatory workout material designed specifically to get you ready for our group classes (you can do these workouts at home with no equipment).
Do all the Coaches and Champions listed on the website actually teach at CK MMA Chennai?
Yes. All coaches listed on the website are full time employees of Combat Kinetics MMA Chennai.
What is MMA?
“Mixed Martial Arts” also known as “MMA” refers to a combination of the most effective elements of several martial art styles blended to form a complete combat system. The combat sport of MMA allows striking, grappling, takedowns, throws and submission holds. Like most successful modern MMA fighters, we cross train in Boxing, Muay Thai, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Wrestling among others. Because no martial art has everything, it is generally accepted that cross-training is required in order to become a complete MMA fighter.
Is Mixed Martial Arts safe?
Absolutely. At Combat Kinetics MMA, safety is our top priority in everything that we do. We teach martial arts in a safe, fun and supportive environment under the guidance of some of the best Coaches in the country. Of course, like in any other sport such as basketball, soccer, or badminton, accidents can occur. Though they are extremely rare in a controlled environment such as CK MMA Chennai and we are yet to have any serious injuries till date.
Who is your typical customer?
At CK MMA Chennai, clients fall into one of three broad categories: The Fitness Junkie, The Mixed Martial Artist, and The Competitive Fighter. “The Fitness Junkie” is someone who simply wants to get into the best shape of his/her life with a stimulating, friendly, high energy workout.”The Martial Artist” is someone who understands the value of authentic martial arts and appreciates gaining skills under great coaches but not necessarily competing. “The Fighter” is someone who wants to achieve the highest levels of competitive martial arts (amateur or professional) under the best instructors around.
What about children?
At CK MMA Chennai, we teach martial arts so that your children can inherit invaluable life-skills. Confidence, self-defense, mental strength, discipline, focus, teamwork, and much more. Our goal is to help your child maximize his/her chances of success in life. We have a very strong focus on “bully-proofing” your children so that they do not become victims at school. Bullying is very harmful to a child’s self-esteem and can rob a child of his/her future dreams. At CK MMA Chennai, we have a zero tolerance philosophy against bullies.
Can I take private 1-on-1 Mixed Martial Arts lessons with CK MMA instructors?
